King Lear poses the most profound questions of human existence: love and duty; friendship and betrayal; leadership and loyalty; destiny and the overwhelming inevitability of a life nearing to its end.
We will be reading King Lear on Saturday 11 September 2021, starting at 5pm. We look forward to seeing you in the School, Warszawska 29/6.
Since June 2015, we have read:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (every June since 2015), The Tempest, Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night, or, What you Will, Measure for Measure, Much Ado about Nothing, Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, All’s Well That Ends Well, Taming The Shrew, Winter’s Tale, Macbeth, King John, Hamlet.
King John, a lesser known Shakespeare’s play, a rarely performed tale of a nation in turmoil.
“When I saw it acted, what with its intrigues and double-crossings, non-aggression pacts, quislings, people changing sides in the middle of a battle, and what-not, it seemed to me extraordinarily up to date” (George Orwell in the 1940s). Join us and let us read this play together in 2019.
When: Saturday 14 September 2019, starting at 4pm.
Where: The Guides School of English, Kielce, Warszawska 29/6.
We are pleased to invite you to our next Shakespeare reading: The Merchant of Venice, a play far from unequivocal, a comedy far from simply amusing. And a must for prospective, aspiring and fully-fledged lawyers.
We look forward to seeing you in the School, Warszawska 29/6, at 4pm on Saturday 16 September 2017!
This year, we will be reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the best day to do so: Saturday, 24 June 2017, starting from 5pm. Welcome to Barbara’s garden!
